AnthologyHouse Has Reopened!

Alyse Hufford

I'm back and so excited to share the vintage goodies I picked up on my travels around the South!  With my whole family in tow, we road tripped from Nashville to Southwest Florida and covered a lot of territory.  I bribed my children with milkshakes and promises of new lego sets so I could stop at the antique malls, thrift shops, and church rummage sales that dot the highway down to Florida.

Imogene + Willie

Before we got to our final destination of Sanibel, we stopped in Nashville to visit with my sister-in-law.  She gave me an awesome tour of Nashville as we hit up shops, restaurants (had my first meat and 3), and boutiques around the city.  Of all the neighborhoods we visited my favorite was 12 South.  There you'll find Imogene + Willie, Fork's Drum ClosetSavant Vintage, and Josephine's.  Josephine's was definitely my favorite restaurant and I have to say the chicken livers with pepper jelly was delicious.  Yum!

Next on my stop was Flair Vintage Décor, owned by the fabulous and very fashionable Caroline West.  I have been an Instagram follower of Caroline's for sometime and am always in awe of her vintage finds.  I dropped in and chatted with Caroline about her favorite vintage haunts in Nashville and how she started her shop.  I absolutely adored meeting her and look forward to another visit next Summer.

And last but not least, a trip to Nashville is not complete until you visit the infamous Blue Bird Cafe for their songwriters circle where artists perform in a small, intimate setting.  I was blown away by the writers and their performances including Victoria Shaw who gave a very moving performance of her hit, "I Love The Way You Love Me."  We were also surprised to see a fellow guest in the audience - Aloe Blacc.

After Nashville we made a quick trip down through Atlanta but unfortunately we did not have as much time as I would have liked to shop since we had to be in Florida for the Fourth of July.  I was really bummed as I know there are TONS of designers residing in Atlanta that influence the style of the South.  I'm hoping on our next trip back I will have more time to visit shops and designers I've come to admire including Parker Kennedy and H & H Home.

Destination - The Beach!

So after 13 hours in the car and stops at Chick-fil-A for the kiddos, we finally made it to Sanibel and that is where the relaxing began.  I did get to sneak away for some vintage shopping during our beach visit and was in faux bamboo heaven.  I could see the influence of Palm Beach the further South I drove as I neared the Naples area.

Luckily I was able to pick up some goodies for the shop and ship them back to Seattle.  In the coming week I will be filling up my Chairish and Etsy shops with treasures I picked up on my trip.  You'll find colorful pieces and unique vintage beauties that will add sophistication and whimsy to your space including: a Vintage Metal Tole Floral Chandelier, Italian Wheat Wall Sconce, Staffordshire Greyhounds, Vintage Barware, and much, much more.

Stay tuned!
