Finalizing the Dining Room

Alyse Hufford

Well it didn't take long for my client and I to agree on wallpaper for her dining room - we went with Serena & Lily's Palmetto pattern in olive/turquoise.  It compliments her existing orange hue walls nicely.  Now I'm just trying to convince her to wallpaper the whole dining room to add a little more drama to the room and also play off her white wainscoting.  Wink. Wink. Mary-Kelly-Dining-Room

The client already recovered the seats of her vintage 1940's wood chairs (I attempted to find a similar chair style online for this design board) with Drygoods Design fabric.  The reclaimed wood dining table from Restoration Hardware will be delivered by the end of this month and once we have the wallpaper in place, will get to work styling the rest of the room.

Since my client already has a brushed brass bar cart from Restoration Hardware, it will be fairly easy to style it up with some vintage cocktail glasses, shakers, decanters, and other barware goodies.  The buffet table (attempted to find similar for this design board) will also remain as she had recently purchased it from a local artist.  It will be flanked by Schoolhouse Electric Lily Table Lamps.  I'll then finish out styling the buffet with new and vintage accessories.

We will also replace her existing deep red roman window shades with white curtain panels, supported by walnut and brass curtain rods.  I personally like the horn finials from Anthropologie and think they'll add a touch of whimsy to the space.  And lastly I included a ceiling pendant option to replace her existing craftsman style pendant.  I adore Schoolhouse Electric's Vega 5 Chandelier in antique black and think would lend a modern industrial vibe to her room.

Stay tuned!
