A Northwest Ranch Gets a Revamp

Alyse Hufford

I recently met with a client who over the next few months, will have her Northwest ranch renovated to include a new master bedroom and on suite bathroom.  The existing bedrooms will also be reconfigured to carve out more space for her children and a home office. I'm thrilled she contacted me for some design advice and in the coming months, I will be assisting her in selecting everything from lighting fixtures to a mid-century modern inspired vanity to create a serene and classic bath that will withstand the test of time.

With the new addition also comes a revamp of her current living room.  She asked me to give her room a mid-century modern facelift, reminiscent of what you'd see in a Cliff May house.  She already has beautiful hardwood floors and some mid century inspired furniture (the couch, coffee table, and side tables will stay),  so I will be focusing on enhancing what she already has.

I created two concept boards which give a similar vibe but different color schemes.  The first option plays off her yellow gourd lamp (she owns) and adds an air of sophistication with the brass accents.

The second option pulls in more color and exudes more of a Palm Springs vibe.  She asked to see an option with the room accented in blues and greens.

I selected chairs upholstered in a sweet pea green and paired them with gorgeous peacock blue Robert Abbey lamps and a shag rug.  Hints of brass, lucite, and walnut furniture round out the look.

So which look do you prefer?  Which option would you choose?  I'd love your feedback!
