Sneak Peek : Chinoiserie Dragon Lamps

Alyse Hufford

I promised a sneak peek of an upcoming Chairish listing and here it is....this grand pair of Vintage Chinoiserie Dragon Table Lamps!  This pair has been completely rewired by a lighting professional and are ready to be displayed in your home.  Just add your own shades and some eye candy finials.  (I think they would look fabulous if topped with Hillary Thomas' White on Rice Finials).

I'm a huge fan of Hillary Thomas' interiors and online shop.  I think she does an amazing job blending vintage eclectic pieces with modern interiors to create one of a kind spaces for her clients.  One constant theme throughout Hillary's designs is her use of unique, glamorous lamps.  For instance I like how she paired these tall pagoda shaped lamps with a turquoise table.  You could get a similar look with the Vintage Chinoiserie Dragon Lamps on a faux bamboo table and chippendale or gilt starburst mirror.

For a more relaxed vibe, check out how she styled this vignette with bright turquoise lamps, mixed frames, books, and a painting.  The blend of old and new is effortlessly styled and welcoming.

And below is another look Hillary created for Traditional Home's Napa Valley Showhouse.  The brass statement lamps exude a glamorous chic vibe and stand out against the light space.  You could get a similar look with the Chinoiserie Dragon lamps in a predominantly all white space.  The dragon lamps would stand out by themselves if the other interiors are light and you include some rattan furniture such as the chairs Hillary used below.

If you are interested in purchasing these lamps for your home, they will be for sale in the Chairish shop beginning the week of 9/15/14.  And remember, all non-furniture items in the AnthologyHouse shop ship for free!

The Chinoiserie Modern Home

Alyse Hufford

One of my favorite interior design styles to incorporate into the home is Chinoiserie.   I believe it adds a touch of sophistication and femininity to the home, and love how many of today's wall coverings and fabrics lend a modern twist to this centuries old style. This style shot from House of Turquoise features a beautifully styled room with hints of Chinoiserie throughout.  I love the color scheme....the turquoise chandelier from Currey & Co  is pure elegance.

I currently have some Chinoiserie inspired vintage pieces on the Chairish storefront right now that are vibrant and unique.  I envision the pictures hung in the bedroom, succulents planted in the sweet planter, and the foo dog could be set atop a stack of design books.

This pic from La Dolce & Vita incorporates the classic blue + white Chinoiserie color scheme.  The brass faux bamboo side table isn't too shabby either.

I adore this dining room from Furbish Studio.  It's the perfect blend of Chinoiserie + Vintage Eclectic.

And last but not least, Parker Kennedy nails it every time with their Chinoiserie inspired rooms.  Check out this pink + blue space they completed for the Atlanta Show House. Gorgeous!

New Pieces on Hunters Alley

Alyse Hufford

I love the Hunters Alley's tag line, 'The Hunt is On" and completely relate when shopping for quality vintage pieces.  It is a hunt when seeking out vintage and some days you walk away with nothing after digging, scouring sales, and looking for that one of a kind piece. But on a good day, you pick up some amazing pieces, walk away with a huge smile on your face, and can't wait to tell your friends what you scored. I am thrilled to share my recent finds with you that I recently posted to the Hunters Alley storefront including a vintage ram perfume bottle, mid-century red + gold glasses and much more.  Stop by and check out the latest merchandise...and stay tuned as new pieces are added to the shop each week.

Need some inspiration on how to incorporate these lovelies in your home?  Check out some of the beautiful photos below :

It's easy to dress up a book shelf with all white ceramics and color popping book covers. The vintage ram head perfume bottle would look stunning when displayed with other white ceramics.

Add some glamour to a Hollywood Regency office space with the Stiffel Table Lamp available in the shop.  I like how Tobi Fairley paired a pink chair and art work with this white desk.

The vintage gold branches hung above this desk at Corina Kramer's home are beautiful.  You can get the same look with the vintage syroco gold branches available in the shop.

And who doesn't love a good bar area for serving up cocktails in some of your favorite vintage barware.  The mid-century red + gold glasses featured in the shop would be perfect displayed on a gold tray on your tabletop or barcart.  Add some personality by displaying small brass figurines, a vintage decanter and lamp and you've got the perfect spot for hosting your next soiree.
